The Phoenix Tail Buoy towing clamp was developed to support the flexible tail end solution. The clamp is designed with a raised feature on the inned bore that intefaces with mating features on the tail end of the STIC, the in-water swivel or the tail PRVIM. This provides for flexibility in configuration of the tail end.
The clamp is manufactured in titanium and weighs 3.2Kg including shackles. From the strength point of view it is very highly rated and is fitted with AISI 630 shackles rated to 50kN with a breaking load in the region of 200kN each.
